The Morgawr (ongoing)

A self authored and illustrated graphic novel proposal

The Morgawr, native to Helford Passage, Cornwall, has been sighted a few times over the last fifty years. With its slimy back and serpent like tail, its appearance is likened to Nessie of Loch Ness. Could it be that four Cornish teenagers are up to the task of catching it…

The Morgawr is a graphic novel proposal created to explore Cornish landscape, texture and myth. After spending a few weeks exploring myths of Cornwall, I settled on exploring the Morgawr through four teenager characters, Jim, Riko, Dev and Tabitha (as well as designated driver/ older sister Sara and fisherman Lee). Using digital collaging methods, I layered fine liner pen, watercolour, pastel, pencil and mono print to create textured graphic novel pages dedicated to the Cornish landscape.
